The television personality, Jimmy Kimmel, has declared war on Facebook friend statues. He has gone on record as telling Facebook users that November 17th is National UnFriend Day.

NUD as it is being referred to, is the international day when all Facebook user will UnFriend people that they do not actually know in real day to day life.

It is meant to bring meaning back to actual friendship and for the users of Facebook to “cut the fat” from their friends lists. It has already gained a cult following.

Some of Hollywood has even joined in. Here is a quote from William Shatner, “These people on Facebook, they’re not your friends.”

It remains to be seen if it will have much of an impact.
