Government Licensing Internet? Hells No!

In what is sure to bring a great deal of heat down on Microsoft, one of their top executives has recently proposed that the government should begin licensing access to the internet.

The suggestion was made by Scott Cheney, a Microsoft security official, at a conference in Berlin. Cheney suggested that the government be able to restrict who is and who is unable to access the internet, with certain precautions in place. Cheney has suggested that PC’s infected with malware and other dangerous programming be quarantined and be denied access to the internet.

At the conference, Cheney also suggested that the government use special programs be implemented so that both specialized firms, as well as the government, could “track and control” computers. He compared the program to the CDC.

You think ‘the man’ should be licencing internet access?
