Comedian Greg Giraldo Dies

Successful stand-up comedian Greg Giraldo died on Wednesday, five days after he was hospitalized for an apparent prescription drug overdose.

Giraldo had toured the country many times as a headliner at many comedy clubs and venues. He may be best known to the general public as one of the judges on NBC’s show Last Comic Standing.

Giraldo was a former lawyer who gave up the profession to learn the craft of comedy. Giraldo was a frequent guest on David Letterman and Conan O’Brien. He also was friends with Howard Stern and Jon Stewart.

Giraldo’s Facebook page will remain up so fans can offer condolences. He was 44 years old.
